Congratulations on receiving this award. I really like the way this blog has developed. It has taken on a life of its own. Unfortunately our school internet connection ( which comes via satellite, as we are in a rural area) is not working at present and we do not know how long it will take to repair it. Our pupils are therefore unable to contribute to the blog for now. I hope we will be back online soon but our holidays are fast approaching. We close on June 25th .
    When do you all close?
    St. Brendan’s N.S.

  2. Liliana Says:

Congratulations from here as well!! I am so proud of you all!
We close on the 13th of June, Tom, even earlier than you, but my pupils said they would like to post materials during the summer holidays as well. We’ll see what they manage to do.
    All the best from Romania,

  3. philjohnson Says:

I think you know, but I would still like to remind you that we will receive the European Quality Label (EQL), too, because there are already two partners who have received the National Quality Label. The EQL is awarded twice a year and the next round is on 2 July 2008.
Congrats again! Those who haven’t applied yet, please do it as soon as possible!

I think it’s worth going on with the project in the next school year as well.
    All the best,

  27. Gina Says:

    I noticed it!
But Now I’ve got other good news: the Italian etwinning group announced me they want to insert the project in an etwinning brochure as an example of etwinning project in Italy for the year 2008 in order to to the 8th European Key Skills.
They asked me to write a presentation of the project in order to the way we worked to produce what we have posted on the blog. If I’m able to make a right one it will be published in Italian and translated in English. Tell me good luck, please!
All the best Liliana and thankyou for giving me this great opportunity!

    Hello everyone!
Our project has been published on the The volume:” Le competenze chiave nell’apprendimento permanente: il contributo di eTwinning”( The key competences in the longlife learning: the Etwinning contribute) and introduced and awarded during the Italian conference in Pistoia.
This is the Label we received!

    All the best!

  39. Tom Duggan Says:

    Hi everyone,
Yes it’s a pity we are not among the finalists…Our project(s) were still worthwhile however …I am going to the conference in Prague to see all the winning projects and hopefully to get some ideas…anyone else going?

  40. Liliana Says:

Hello everyone and greetings from Oxford!
I was a bit disappointed as well for not being among the finalists, but we’re doing a great job and I think it’s worth going on with it.
Unfortunately, I’m not going to the conference in Prague…Who else is going besides Tom and Irina?
    All the best,

  41. ivasil Says:

    Hi everyone,
I also think we are doing great and our readers are the best proof. We would have deserved a prize, but… Anyway, the kids enjoy it and that’s a reward, too, right?
Enjoy your stay at Oxford, Liliana!
    See you in Prague, Tom.
    Best wishes to you all.

  42. stbrendans Says:

    Hello everyone,
I’m just back from the etwinning conference. It was great to finally meet one of our team when Irina and I met at the conference. It is a pity that none of the rest of our team could make it. The conference was very interesting and we saw the winning projects. One of my friends from Ireland, Tom Roche won 1st prize for his project so there was great celebration and excitement from the Irish delegation . It was also nice to see some of Prague, a beautiful city. I would urge those of you who did not go, to try to go to next year’s conference. It is a great event.

  43. ivasil Says:

    Hi everyone,
The conference was indeed an impressive but quite tiring event. You can read all about it on the conference blog. I would have liked all of us to be there with our project, but maybe we will all meet another time.
Thanks, Tom, it was really nice meeting you, too.

  44. Liliana Says:

I’ve heard only good things about the eTwinning conferences. The one I attended last year was great. The one this year was great, too.
I wish we could all meet one day.
Please put a link to the Prague conference blog here. There is one from the last year as well. It seems we are a lucky team. At least one of us has managed to attend these conferences since we started our collaboration.
Congrats to the Irish delegation! I know Tom Roche (I guess I’ve told you about him, Tom) and I’ve seen his eTwinning project. I like it very much.
At the moment, I am still at home fighting otitis, but I hope to get to school soon. 😀

  45. ivasil Says:

Here is the link to the conference blog: and here is a video on the conference, too:
    Get well soon, Liliana!

  46. ivasil Says:

Congratulations, Tom, for the European Quality Label!

  47. Gina Says:

    Hi Liliana!
I realized from the banner you applyed for Global Junior Challenge 2009: I did the same! I found your Project on the website and I dared to add at mine( Id 317) the same plans for the future of yours!
    All the best!

  48. Gina Says:

    Hello everyone!
I’ve got a good news for you!
Last year I submitted “Tradition Across Europe” to the MEDEA Awards 2009 and , incredible, it has been selected among 254 entries from 39 countries and is finalist with only other 8 projects! Wonderful!
    Look at:
    ll the best!

    • stbrendans Says:

      Hi Gina,
This is great news indeed. Congratulations to you and here’s hoping you can win first prize. We will all be cheering for you.

  49. Gina Says:

    Thanks Tom!
I wish we won the first prize, it would be a great for me and for all of you! Anyway being among the finalists is already a big review for all our work ( mine and yours!), isn’t it! Thanhs for being cheering for me :your support is important for me!
    All the best!

  50. Liliana&the kids Says:

Congratulations!! That’s great news! Any news about the prizes?
    Hugs from Romania,

  51. Gina Says:

    Not yet, Liliana!
I think we’ll know something only when we are in Berlin for the Ceremony! Thanks and let’s cross our fingers!
    A big hug!

  52. Gina Says:

    Hello everyone!
I’m very happy to announce you wonderful news:
Tradition Across Europe was awarded in Berlin with “MEDEA European Collaboration Award 2009 ” !

  53. stbrendans Says:

    Hi Gina,
Wonderful news and an early Christmas present!!
Congratulations. It’s great to get this recognition for this project.

  54. Liliana Says:

That’s amazing news indeed! Congratulations, Gina, and thank you for promoting our blog! Congratulations to all the partner schools that have been posting on this blog for more than two years! It still exists thanks to you! It’s a miracle how so many students and teachers manage to collaborate so well without actually meeting in person.

At the end of December, I I hope to be able to meet Joe Molloy, our Irish partner, who has taught me almost everything I know about blogs and has supported this blog and the Carolling… one a lot, together with the other Irish teacher involved in these two projects, Tom Duggan.

I hope the Carolling… blog will have your attention this year as well. I paid for the usual yearly upgrade (I’ve finally managed to do that this year!), so we will be able to post any type of materials from articles to mp3s and videos. In the last two years, Joe Molloy and Tom Duggan paid for the upgrade and I would like to thank them once again for that.

Gina, if you have a certificate or a diploma that came with the MEDEA prize, please post it on the blog next to the eTwinning certificates.

    Hugs from Romania!
