Typical Palms / Palme tipiche March 29, 2010

Once upon a time preparing, for the Palm Sunday, particular palms interlacing the olive leaves was a tradition, in our town. With the new generations this tradition has been loosing and is kept only in some little village. Our teacher Giuseppina brought at school some little olive branches and prepared for us some palms using that ancient technique. She made in this way:

  • She cut from some little olive branches many couples of leaves
  • She got other little branches and deprived them of the leaves
  • She interlaced on the naked little branches the couples of leaves prepared first with skill and fixed them well at the ends.
  •  She decorated everything with golden strings and … finally our palms were ready!

This year we only looked at her, next year we’ll prepare them for ourselves!
